PRIVACY POLICY.
What Snow Op collects when you contact us, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Last updated 27 August 2026. This policy explains how Snow Op collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information, and the rights you have over that information.
Who we are and who is accountable
Snow Op provides snow and ice removal services in Calgary, Alberta and surrounding communities. Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) requires us to designate someone accountable for personal information in our custody or control. That person can be reached at hello@snowop.ca, addressed to the Privacy Officer.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to quote and deliver winter services. Through the quote form: your name, email address, telephone number, property address, city, property type, driveway and walkway details, whether de-icing is wanted, whether you are sending photographs separately, and any notes you add. Through the contact form: your name, email, telephone and message. Through the referral form: your own contact details, plus the name and contact details of the person you refer.
We do not collect payment card details, government identifiers or financial account information through this website.
Why we collect it, and the purposes we identify
PIPA requires us to identify the purposes of collection at or before the time we collect. Our purposes are: to prepare and deliver a quote for a specific property; to answer an enquiry; to negotiate, form and administer a seasonal service contract; to schedule and carry out clearing and de-icing; to keep service and billing records; to apply a referral credit; and to meet legal or insurance obligations. We do not use your information for unrelated purposes without asking you first.
Consent, and how to withdraw it
By submitting a form you consent to us using the information in it for the purposes above. Where PIPA permits, we may also rely on implied consent — for example, using the address you give us to plan a route to your property. You may withdraw consent at any time on reasonable notice by emailing hello@snowop.ca, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the service, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Referrals: information about other people
If you submit someone else’s details through the referral form, PIPA expects that person’s consent for us to contact them. Please confirm they are content to hear from us before you send their information. We use referral details only to make contact about the referral and, if they sign a qualifying contract, to apply your credit. If a referred person asks us to delete their details, we will.
Disclosure, and service providers outside Canada
We do not sell personal information and we do not disclose it for anyone else’s marketing. We disclose it only to service providers who help us operate — website hosting and form handling, email, and any accounting or scheduling tools we use — and where we are required or permitted by law, including to comply with a court order or a lawful demand.
This is important and PIPA requires us to say it plainly: this website is built and hosted on Framer, a service operated outside Canada, and form submissions are processed on its infrastructure. Personal information you send through this site may therefore be stored or accessed outside Canada, including in the United States, and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions and to lawful access by foreign courts and authorities. How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and enquiries only as long as they serve the purpose they were collected for and any resulting contract, and then destroy or anonymise them. Where information has been used to make a decision that directly affects you, PIPA requires us to keep it for at least one year so you have a reasonable opportunity to obtain access. Records we must retain for tax, insurance or limitation-period reasons are kept for as long as that obligation lasts.
Safeguards
We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity — access limited to people who need it to do their job, reputable providers for hosting and email, and encrypted connections for this website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Breach notification
If a loss, unauthorised access or unauthorised disclosure of personal information occurs and there is a real risk of significant harm to an individual, PIPA requires us to report it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta without unreasonable delay, and to notify affected individuals if the Commissioner directs us to. We will do so.
Your right to access and correct
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed, and you may ask us to correct it. Write to hello@snowop.ca. PIPA allows us to respond within 45 days, and to extend that period where the request is complex — if we extend, we will tell you why. There are limited circumstances where PIPA requires or permits us to refuse access, such as where doing so would reveal personal information about someone else; if we refuse, we will explain why and tell you how to complain. PIPA permits a reasonable fee for some access requests, and we will give you a written estimate before doing any work that attracts a fee.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, please raise it with our Privacy Officer first so we can try to resolve it. You may also complain directly to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, at 410, 9925 – 109 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5K 2J8, by telephone at 780-422-6860, or through oipc.ab.ca.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses only what is needed to serve pages and to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited and roughly where visits come from. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not build advertising profiles. Aggregate analytics do not identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will still work.
Email and messages
We contact you about a quote or a contract because you asked us to, which is consent under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. Any commercial electronic message we send will identify us and give you a working way to unsubscribe, and we will honour an unsubscribe request promptly. Asking us not to send marketing does not stop us contacting you about a service you have actually booked.
Children
This website and our services are directed at property owners, occupants and managers, not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business or the law changes. The version published here is the current one, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
Verifying who you are
Before we act on a request for access, correction or deletion, we need to be reasonably satisfied that you are the person the information is about — otherwise the request itself becomes a privacy risk. We will ask you only for what is necessary to confirm that, and we will not use what you give us for verification for any other purpose.
Who inside Snow Op can see your information
Access is limited to the people who need it to quote, schedule, perform or invoice the work — in a business this size, the owner, the office and the crew assigned to your property. Crews receive the address and site details they need to do the job, not your full record. Anyone with access is expected to keep it confidential.
Aggregate and anonymised information
We may use information that has been aggregated or stripped of identifiers — for example, how many quote requests came from a given community — to plan routes and capacity. Information in that form is no longer personal information and is not subject to the access and correction rights described above.
No automated decision-making
We do not use automated profiling or algorithmic decision-making to decide whether to serve a property or what to charge. Quotes are prepared by a person who has looked at the property details you sent.
Tracking preferences
We do not run cross-site advertising trackers, so there is nothing here to opt out of for that purpose. Browser Do Not Track signals are not standardised and we do not rely on them; the analytics we use are aggregate and do not identify you.
