Snow and ice on sidewalks adjacent to the property must be cleared within 24 hours after snowfall ends.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT CALGARY.
Chinooks change the job
Calgary’s chinooks can lift temperatures above freezing and drop them again within a day. Snow melts, water runs across walks and driveways, then refreezes. Clearing alone often is not the end of it — that is where de-icing earns its place.
Where the snow goes matters
On narrow inner-city frontages and lanes there is limited room to pile snow. We plan where it goes before we start, so cleared snow does not end up blocking a walk, a lane or a neighbour’s access.
Two different housing stocks
A 1950s bungalow with a front walk and a back lane is a different job from a newer suburban home with a double driveway and a long public frontage. We quote them differently because they are different.

Who has to clear the public sidewalk in front of my Calgary house?
Under Street Bylaw 20M88 the responsibility sits with the property owner or occupant, and the requirement is 24 hours after snowfall ends. We can include that frontage in your service — tell us the length when you request a quote.
Where will you put the snow you clear?
We agree that before the season starts. On tight inner-city lots that usually means a designated spot on the property. We do not push snow onto the road, a neighbour’s property or a fire hydrant.
